Even though I didn't think the original "X3" is the abomination so many comic book fans say it is, I will agree it left something to be desired. That was a tough shoot though. Fox executive Tom Rothman screwed over Bryan Singer, even though the guy made Fox a ton of money. He pushed for a quick release date and tight schedule to beat Singer's "Superman Returns" to theaters. It lost several directors. It would actually be a neat story for biopic movie, to be quite honest. The background story of the making of "X3" is insane. No matter how you look at it, "X3" was going to be a hot mess. I will never argue that "X3" is a great movie, because its not. I will say I have always given it the benefit of the doubt.
I can't say I am doing the same with this new-age "X-Men" franchise. It's been some good footing ever since "First Class" in 2011. Yet, I can't seem to get too excited over this new "Dark Phoenix" movie. I look at this new trailer, and it just looks like a soft reboot of "X3." Except there is no Wolverine and Jean is being manipulated by a different character.
The more I look at this new trailer, the more it looks the exact same.
But hey, since it looks like the X-Men are going to headed the Marvel Cinematic Universe really soon, I guess it only makes sense that all the characters in this franchise would die or lose their powers.
All joking aside, what do you guys think?
