TV REVIEW: AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (SEASON FOUR, EPISODE FOURTNEEN)

TV REVIEW

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

SEASON FOUR, EPISODE FOURTEEN- "THE MAN BEHIND THE SHIELD"
Last week, we saw Director Mace get captured by The Superior, this is to draw Coulson and team to him and the other Watchdogs. The Superior wants to kill Coulson because he blames him for all the aliens suddenly arriving on Earth. That's what this episode revolved around. We saw The Superior torture Director Mace, trying to get Coulson's position. All the while Coulson and the team are trying to track Mace before The Superior kills him.

We also see some flashbacks to a mission between Coulson and May, when they went to track down an object together. Its way before anything really Avengers related. There is an altercation in an Eastern European nation, but May is always there to have Coulson's back. There is some subtle flirting here and there. At this point, its got to happen right? This prolonged romance has to come to fruition eventually right? This is getting a little too prolonged for my taste, they might as well just let it happen. But we found out more in this flashback. You see, Coulson and the man who would become The Superior met on this mission. The Superior nearly had Coulson captured until May saved him. So there is this half-assed connection between The Superior and Coulson, for some reason, it felt really cliche.

Anyway, the rest of the episode felt filler. There is some subtle flirting between Jemma and Fitz. Daisy fought The Superior and kicked his ass. Of course Mace got rescued. It was a total filler episode. The only thing that made it all worthwhile was the big reveal at the end. Somewhere between the beginning and end of the episode (and there are some hidden clues laced throughout the episode) that Coulson, Mack, Mace and Quake are all LMDs. Yep, Aida is slowly infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. which should lead to an action packed episode next week. Its just sad that we aren't going to get it until next week. I wish we didn't have to sit through boring episodes to get to an action packed episode.

What did everyone else think?
