I think this is the Star Wars prequel we hoped and prayed for eleven years ago and that we didn't quite get. And yes, I AM a fan of the Star Wars prequels.
I have been saying for years and years now that the smartest thing the "Star Wars" film franchise will do in the future is make a movie outside the Skywalker family. I am most excited to see "Rogue One: A Star Wars" story for just that reason. I love that we are seeing something independent within this universe. I love the idea of seeing a story within the early years of the Empire, and when they began their stronghold over the galaxy. That's fascinating to me, and we really haven't learned much about it yet. There are going to be some classic characters from the original trilogy in this (Yep, that is THE Darth Vader showing up at the end of the trailer), some classic characters from the current cartoons (if you watch "Star Wars: Rebels" or "Star Wars: Clone Wars," pay close attention to the character Forest Whitaker is playing.) Plus, any movie that features Donnie Yen kicking ass is something worth seeing in a movie theater.
Over the hill excited for this one.
