TV REVIEW: "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Episode Seven, Season Three)

TV REVIEW

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

EPISODE SEVEN, SEASON THREE- "CHAOS THEORY"
Andrew Garner's secret is revealed to his ex-wife Melinda May on last night's episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." After von Strucker's son spilled the beans to May after he was captured and killed by HYDRA, she began thinking about it and it makes perfect sense. Melinda May confronted Garner, and he got upset that she stunned May and locked her up in an undisclosed location. After the team noticed she was gone, they banned together to go find her. Helping the team this week was Lincoln. Yes, Lincoln the Inhuman from last season and this season allied with S.H.I.E.L.D. He still feels he has a bone to pick with Lash, and he figured out that Garner and Lash are one in the same.

This took Coulson off a meeting with the President of the United States and Price. The ATCU and S.H.I.E.L.D. are still allied up, even though everything with shaky between Coulson's team and the ATCU. They don't like how the ATCU is treating Inhumans, especially Daisy who stood up against Ms. Price. They had a well-written and well-acted argument over the morality of the Inhumans treatment. What the episode did in a very clever manner is not paint Daisy or Price's positions on the matter as good or evil. The arrival of the Inhumans has put a very gray position on many people, and the ATCU is handling it the best they can, they are also working on a cure. Yeah, the idea of a cure seems little too "X-Men 3" to me, but if what we learn at the end of the episode and the promo for next week, perhaps Price is up to something else.

Yep, Price is working for HYDRA. Did you see that coming? I thought her as a character was a little bit too good to be true, and how she took such a liking to Coulson so soon seemed a little suspicious. She had a phone call with Gideon the character we saw last week played by Powers Boothe. Powers Boothe also showed up as a World Security Councilmen in the first Avengers movie, just highlighting how deep HYDRA was into S.H.I.E.L.D. Price is in league with HYDRA and it seems that will come to a head next week.

The episodes real drama came with Garner and May. I think Ming Na-Wen has grown outstandingly as a performer in this May character, and I loved that this episode highlighted her talent. I think Blair Underwood is great opposite for Ming Na-Wen to play off of and the flashbacks of them on vacation this episode made everything between more intense and even more heartbreaking. The episode would have fell flat if it weren't for the great exchanges between these two.

Some other great highlights of tonight's episode include a pretty spectacular fight between Lincoln and Lash. Before May confronts Garner, we see him evaluating Joey, the Inhuman S.H.I.E.L.D. saved from the government in the season premiere. Joey is gaining great control of his powers and it looks like he could become the first Inhuman on Daisy's secret team! We also see Leo Fitz learning more about Jemma's stay on that mysterious planet. The more he learns, the more he learns about Will, the more I feel for him. Poor Fitz, I hope he finds himself a nice girl. Also, we say exactly what happened when Garner became an Inhuman, which was equally heartbreaking and another great scene by Blair Underwood.

What did everyone else think?
