TV REVIEW: "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Episode 9, Season 2)

The absolute best part of tonight's episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was watching Skye (Chloe Bennett) kick ass. Yes, Skye the computer nerd, kicks some serious butt. For a character who was trying to sabotage S.H.I.E.L.D. in season one, just to become a agent in the system. Then to get the edge on a senior agent in season 2? Well, that was awesome. Yes, there was probably some suspension of disbelief that a rookie could take down a senior agent, and yes she had some help. But it was good to see her character break out in such a major way.
I am going to sound like a broken record, but how this show has completely created humans out these characters is the main reason I keep tuning in each week. The reason why season one became a choir was because everything seemed cliché, everything seemed like it was the product of routine. Now, in season 2, ABC has completely revitalized their show. I love that each of these characters have their own personalities, their own motivations, and this is why this season has been rich nearly all across the board. ABC is continuously making us care about these characters, which is main reason number two why I tune in each week.
I also loved that Patton Oswald made another appearance as Sam Koenig or is his name Billy? I can't tell if the Koenig family has a long list of twin boys or if the show will finally introduce Life Model Decoy's into its story. But the guessing game behind the Koenig family has been a real treat. Something that could have been a failure in the wrong hands. Part of why Koenig is so successful as a character(s) is due to the awesome acting by Patton Oswald. The guy has always been a powerful, comedic force. He proves time and time again how great of a player he really is, and he even has the power to be badass at some points. I love Oswald's work and I really hope he eventually becomes a series regular.
One thing that the show made certain was the presence of the Kree. One of the first major Easter Eggs of the season. I really enjoy that this season has more and more embraced what makes the Marvel universe so rich. So the Kree are connected to The Diviner, at least according to Raina (Ruth Negga) when she was talking to Skye. Skye believes in Raina, so much so that she allowed herself to be taken by Ward (Brett Dalton) to be taken to her father. It seems that we are going to learn very soon why Skye was labeled as a 084, and I am itching with anticipation to find out why. I also can't wait to see how all of this is connected to the Kree. An alien race that I feel we will learn more about in the future season, and perhaps in a "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.
Another solid episode. Another solid reminder that things can change for the better. Who is ready for the Winter Finale? I am!
