Evangeline Lilly, who made a name for herself in the 2000's hit TV show "Lost" has possibly landed a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can currently see her as a heroic elf in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."
It seems after she's done chilling with the elves of Middle-Earth, she could be in a Marvel movie. It has been confirmed that Lilly is in final negotiations for the upcoming "Ant-Man" movie. The details are pretty much non-existent at this point, but there are a couple ideas circling around the inter-webs.
In the Marvel comics, Hank Pym fell in love and married fellow superhero Wasp, aka Janet Van Dyke. However, we know that Michael Douglas is playing Hank Pym and Paul Rudd is playing Scott Lang, a different hero who donned the Ant-Man mantle. So is it possible that in this universe, that Janet will fall for Lang and not Pym. After all, I guess its not out of the possibility that a young Lilly would be with an old Douglas, its just radically creepy.
The one piece of information we do know is that Lilly's character is the daughter of Hank Pym and will be the romantic foil of Lang. So I wonder if Edgar Wright is making up a character who is possibly based on Janet? Who knows. I was kind of hoping she'd play Janet, simply because I personally want to see more lady heroes. The Marvel universe is rich with heroes of both genders and I think this cinematic universe needs to show that more. No matter what, I trust Edgar Wright and I think he's got something brilliant up his sleeve. I can't wait to see how this story progresses.
