Here are some casting rumors circling the Hollywood mill this week...
Don Cheadle will suit up as War Machine in "Avengers: Age of Ultron"
With Spring right around the corner, "Avengers 2" is prepping to shoot. So I expect to get some interesting casting details in the upcoming months revolving around "Age of Ultron." One that dropped today that Don Cheadle will reprise his role as War Machine in the sequel. According to my rough data, I don't think Rhodey ever became an official member of The Avengers until recent years, but hey, they are fighting Ultron in this movie, they'll need every hero possible. Plus, RDJ has already talked about retiring from the character, so as Cheadle has several other movies in his contract, it would make sense for Cheadle to take over Iron Man duty for RDJ. I am not saying this will happen, but its a theory. I'll be interested to see how Rhodey fits into the story.
Jason Clarke the new John Connor?
I don't understand that with each new Terminator movie, we get a new actor playing John Connor. Production is getting bigger and bigger for the upcoming Terminator reboot called "Terminator: Genesis." Australian actor Jason Clarke is in talks to play Connor. If Clarke accepts, he will join Arnold Schwarzenegger who is reprising his role as T-1000. Personally, I have it up to the sky with Terminator reboots, but I am willing to give this new film a try. More on this as it progresses.
Robert Knepper joins "Hunger Games: Mockingjay"
It seems Mockingjay screenwriter Danny Strong has been given wiggle-room to write some different stuff for the two-part finale. Television actor Robert Knepper has been cast as Antonius, a mysterious character who seemingly isn't from the books. Antonius will be an advisor-like character working closely with President Snow (Donald Sutherland). I have never heard of Knepper but apparently he is very good on TV's "Prison Break," and I am curious to see how big and substantial this mysterious character will be. I cannot, cannot wait for these final two films!
Christoph Waltz and (maybe) Samuel L. Jackson for Tarzan
Apparently director David Yates, who made the last four "Harry Potter" films will be making a live-action version of Tarzan. Yates has already nabbed Alexander Skarsgard for the title role, which is perfect. Now we learned today that Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained) has be confirmed for involvement too. Also, Yates is trying to get Samuel L. Jackson onboard, to play a character who is a Civil War veteran running from his past. There isn't much word on the Waltz role yet, but Yates is putting together a great cast so far and I'm interested to see where this goes.
