22 Jump Street sequel details

22 Jump Street details
Directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord have given many details involving "22 Jump Street," the upcoming sequel to last year's "21 Jump Street." Apparently, the title isn't just a clever play on the previous title, in the movie the undercover facility will be moving across the street to a nicer facility (giggle, giggle.)

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are returning, information we have had for awhile now. But what was announced last week is that Ice Cube will also be returning. And that newcomers to the franchise Wyatt Russell and Amber Stevens will be joining them too.

I loved "21 Jump Street." I think its a very fun and hilarious comedy and it put Channing Tatum on my radar. I never cared much for the actor before and recently I have seen a good change in his career. He is now an actor I look for now and that is great. As I read the premise for "22 Jump Street," I have to admit I got scared. The biggest trap sequels fall into is treading water, and if you look at the premise that provided for us this week, you may get nervous too.

Read below:

"22 JUMP STREET follows officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) as they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. In addition to cracking the case, the two freshmen must figure out if they can have a mature relationship like real men. - See more at:"

That's not exactly what I hoped for in a sequel to "21 Jump Street," it sounds almost identical to the first film. The roles of cool and uncool maybe different but it still sounds very familiar. If this sequel ends up being a carbon copy of the first film, I'll be disappointed. I am sure Tatum and Hill will be great together, but that can only go so far. We need a good story to carry the film the rest of the way, hopefully it won't be much of a rehash.

22 Jump Street will hit theaters June 13, 2014.
