So it looks like for the seventh installment of the "Fast And Furious" franchise, the series will be taking a bit of a new turn. Justin Lin, who directed FF5 and FF6 is done with the franchise. Which makes me a little bit sad because I really felt Lin put the series back on track. However, James Wan is overtaking the franchise, and he isn't bad.
Here is what James Wan said about the direction the 7th film will take.
"I really like the theme for the next one that we're going with. I can't really talk about it, but I like the theme. Its one I can really relate to. Then there's the drive of Number Seven, which was set up in Number Six, which is a classic revenge story. I'm a big genre fan, so that's how I am approaching it. I'm looking at it like a gritty, '70's revenge thriller, but one that still fits into the "Fast and Furious" series."
This sounds quite cool. Let me remind you that James Wan directed "Death Sentence" in 2007 with Kevin Bacon. While that wasn't a perfect film, it sure was effective. I can't wait to see how this develops!
