X-Men: Days of Future Past casting

X-Men: Days of Future Past

A Closer look at the Cast so far...

So 20th Century Fox has finally got itself together (seemingly) with the "X-Men" franchise and are adapting the "Days of Future Past" story line into a movie. I like that finally a studio is taking a major comic arc and bringing it to the silver screen. "Days of Future Past" revolved around the X-Men stopping a possible future timeline in which The Sentinels (mutant seeking robots created by the government) ruled the country after the X-Men failed to stop an assassination of a U.S. senator by The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Because the movie has to do with time travel and parallel universes, we will see characters appearing in the first "X-Men" franchise and 2011 "X-Men: First Class" prequel franchise.

That has me all sorts of excited.

Casting rumors have been spreading like wildfire all around the web. Who will be featured from both franchises?? I have put together a database of who is in, who is out, and who is unknown at this point. I am so excited for this project for several reasons. I am very happy that a studio is adapting a major story from the comics. I love the idea of parallel universes. It'll be nice for Fox to clear up the continuum problems they created after "X-Men: First Class."  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that Bryan Singer is back in the director's chair and that Matthew Vaughn, who directed "X-Men: First Class," will be one of the producers of the film. MY GOD though! The thought of Michael Fassbender as Magneto AND Ian McKellen as Magneto...plus the possibility of seeing the two actors walking side by side reeking havoc. I am in geek bliss!

Some of this will be older news, some of it newer...but I wanted to create a list so that you all know who is in and out so far.

WHO'S IN
JAMES MCAVOY- PROFESSOR X
Confirmed by Bryan Singer himself

PATRICK STEWART- PROFESSOR X
After lots of back and forth, Stewart is officially confirmed

MICHAEL FASSBENDER- MAGNETO
Confirmed by Bryan Singer himself!

SIR IAN MCKELLEN- MAGNETO
Confirmed by Bryan Singer himself!

HUGH JACKMAN- WOLVERINE
Come on. He's the only actor to have been in all the X-Men related films so far. Of course he isn't sitting this one out!

HALLE BERRY- STORM
Berry's making a comeback these days and I like it! Confirmed by Bryan Singer!

JENNIFER LAWRENCE- MYSTIQUE
Confirmed by Bryan Singer!

NICHOLAS HOULT- BEAST
Played young Beast in "X-Men: First Class" confirmed to be onboard for this

ANNA PAQUIN- ROGUE
Confirmed by Bryan Singer himself!

ELLEN PAGE- SHADOWCAT
Page played Shadowcat in X3 and is confirmed to be in this new film

DANIEL CUDMORE- COLOSSUS
Cudmore played Colossus in X2 and X3. Confirmed by Singer

SHAWN ASHMORE- ICEMAN
Confirmed by Bryan Singer to be in!

WHO'S ON THE FENCE

LUCAS TILL- HAVOK
It says on the film's Wikipedia page that he's in. But again, it's Wikipedia and there is no link to the source. I have not found another credible source.

ALAN CUMMING- NIGHTCRAWLER
Again, the film's Wikipedia page says he's in. But there is no source attached, and no other credible source available yet.

FAMKE JANSSEN- JEAN GREY
There are vague rumors about whether or not Jean Grey is involved at all or not. And we have no idea where in the timeline the story picks up. Her involvement is to be determined at this point.

WHO'S OUT
JANUARY JONES- EMMA FROST
She's been interviewed a couple of times and all reports say that Emma Frost does not make an appearance in this film.

ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION SO FAR
JAMES MARSDEN- CYCLOPS
As of right now, I don't think Marsden has even been approached. We don't know where the timeline picks up and with Marsden recently getting cast in the Anchorman sequel, he may be too busy.

KELSEY GRAMMER-BEAST
Grammer hasn't been talked too and I don't know if he will be.

REBECCA ROMIJN- MYSTIQUE
She had a cameo in "First Class" but so far she hasn't been talked to,

BEN FOSTER- ANGEL
Foster hasn't been approached yet, don't know if Angel is even involved.

So there you have it. The cast is looking really good so far. And newbies to the franchise include Peter Dinkage (Game of Thrones), Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart and Adan Canto.

All I can say is that this has the potential to be THE COOLEST movie ever! I cannot, CANNOT wait to lay on eyes on this thing. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be released July 18th 2014.

Now...if only Fox, Marvel and Disney get together and create a Avengers/X-Men movie...now THAT will be something!
